Council of Ambulance Authorities Congress 2025
Are Paramedics ready for the digital health revolution?
Abstract
The digital health revolution is driving transformative change in healthcare, with innovations such as artificial intelligence, telehealth, and real-time patient monitoring becoming increasingly central to clinical practice. For paramedics, the adoption of these technologies presents significant opportunities to enhance patient care—but also exposes critical gaps in readiness and representation. This presentation will explore whether the paramedic workforce in Oceania is prepared to meet the demands of this digital evolution. It will examine the alignment of existing training, governance, and frameworks with the realities of paramedic practice and highlight where changes are needed to ensure the workforce can thrive in a rapidly advancing digital landscape.
Conference Overview
The CAA Congress brings together top leaders, decision-makers and senior management teams from ambulance services, health, and emergency management sectors from Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and further abroad to collaborate and share information, ideas and experiences, and developing programmes to grow and develop the next generation of Ambulance Sector leaders.
Presentation Delivered
Is the Paramedic workforce ready for the digital health revolution?
This high level presentation looked at the opportunities we have available to us as a paramedicine workforce and the challenges we face around readiness for entering a new, digital age - especially when training, policy frameworks and even the systems we use aren’t designed for a digital future and when they do, often don’t consider paramedics.
